Every buyer can specify their preference on getting the puppy home. Flying by Plane or going by Ground we can schedule your shipment without you ever needing to do anything besides picking them up.

We ship our puppies every Thursday by airplane unless otherwise planned. Puppies ride in the same conditions as the human passengers so don't worry about pressurization or temperature. By shipping earlier Thursday mornings where your pet can travel there are usually no problems. We do not get our flight schedules "sometimes" until the prior Monday evening so if you work please let them know in advance you will not be sure of your arrival until Monday night. Usually the timeframe  to pick up your puppy at the airport is totally depends on the flight schedules. Please call your airport to figure out where you need to go in advance of shipping. All payments on puppies must be received by a week before the shipping day.

We have a ground transport service that ships out on Monday morning and covers most of the USA for $250.00. The service was started by Vets and is a very nice setup. We prefer this option because of the great team and someone is with the puppy 24/7 with medical training. They will deliver to you or within 30 minutes drive time away.

When shipping several puppies a year it might be easier to use a pet transport company. By dealing with a company that transports puppies for a living you can expect customer service unlike calling AA and never getting the same person twice.

American Airlines seems to be the easiest but “that is strictly my opinion”. However; Getting your puppy to Springfield Airport requires a very early morning as you will need to be there at 4am.

Each airline has different rules concerning the shipment of live animals, but there are several rules that they all have in common.

Age

All of the airlines require that the puppy be at least 8 weeks old before shipping. The ground shipping and airlines will not make exceptions based on breed.

Health Certificate

The puppy must have a health certificate from a certified vet, stating that the puppy is in good health, free from diseases, and able to travel safely. Depending on the time of year and the airline, the health certificate must indicate the safe temperature range for the puppy. This is necessary because many airlines experience delays during inclement weather. Some puppies are not able to survive if they are left outside in cold weather for an extended length of time.
 

Kennel

The carrying kennel must be large enough so that the puppy can stand up and turn around. It must have a water bowl and food bowl attached securely to the inside of the kennel. It must also have some kind of absorbent material inside, such as shredded newspaper, wood shavings, or even a towel. On domestic flights, the kennel must have ventilation on at least two sides. On international flights, it must have ventilation on three sides (not counting the door, which is usually a metal grill). The kennel must be marked clearly on the outside with the words Live Animal in letters that are at least 1 inch high. For longer duration flights, the time that the puppy was last offered food and water must be indicated on the kennel. The name, address, and phone number of the shipper and receiver must also be on the kennel.
They have a bowl for food and water, adequate ventilation, and the proper markings on the outside. In addition, the kennel has compartments on top for extra food - useful for those long flights that require an overnight stay at a connection airport.

The Airlines

We like American Airlines because they offer a special service called Priority Parcel for handling live animals and other important packages. With this service, the puppy is shipped through the passenger terminals, instead of the cargo terminals. This means the puppy can usually be picked up at passenger baggage claim, which is much more convenient than dealing with the cargo terminal. If the puppy was shipped to a cargo terminal, the receiver might have to wait up to two hours after the flight arrival before claiming the puppy.
